Kids say the funniest things

To take an example from Aimee's blog, kids say the funniest things.

This past weekend, I was at Home Deopt with Emory for some boy time. We were looking for some rope, and were walking down the gardening isle. There was a woman with her daughter looking at shovels; She had short hair and was wearng a hat. We were the only people in the isle, and as we walk by Emory looks at this woman and says very loud:

"Daddy, what is that man doing?"

I sped up a little, and as we got past her, she looked at us sideways and Emory says again, this time a little louder in case I did not hear him the first time, "what is that MAN doing Daddy".

Then, yesterday, Andrea was doing some work downstairs and Emory, Lily and I were upstairs. Our gate was closed and Emory wanted to go see mama. I told him that mommy would be up soon and he blurts out, "I have been waiting for mama for 2 times already!"

Lastly, Emory was 'petting' me with a cardboard wrapping paper roll last night and I asked him to stop and so, naturally, he did it again. I took the roll from him and put it out of reach. He got upset, and then, after some coaxing, he asked nicely for it. Before handing it too him, I asked him if he was going to hit daddy with it...."No" was his reply...learning from my past mistakes, I asked him what he is going to do with it..."Hit Mommy" was his reply.

Gotta love kids!

The Little Plesslings

We got to see a lot of Shanti, Aimee, Shilah and Serena this past 2 weeks and we had a lot of fun, but the kids seemed to have a blast.

Happy Birthday Shilah!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHILAH!!!

What a week!

We have had a crazy week and a half! Last Thursday/Friday/Saturday we had a full day of rain followed by 8 inches of snow and then another full day of rain. By Tuesday it was 80 degrees and I got a sunburn. We had a great time at Shilah's 4th birthday; we had a great visit with mom; Emory got ear infections in both ears and Lily has a cold. Good times had by all.

Easter outfits

We had a lot of parental enjoyment out of dressing the kids up today. For those of you in Gabe's family, check out Lily's outfit....She will be wearing it to a very special occaision on June 20th!

Getting dressed was very draining. For some reason, Emory did NOT like his outfit. "No NO NO it is NOT cute!" He kept screaming. "Emory is NOT cute." I finally got him into it and after a while he seem to get more fond of the whole look. Still I think our days of dressing him are numbered. So, next year when you see his Easter outfit of ripped black jeans and chains...don't blame me! He will be expressing his own fashion sense.

Tiffany, Tommy and baby Samuel came over last night for dinner. We have a very nice time and

Lily and Sammy also had fun lying on floor. Baby Sam is much bigger than Lily, despite only being 3 week older.

Cooking lessons

Emory and I have been using some of our time to cook together. This week we made a lasanga and invited my mom over to share it on Tuesday. He is really excited about cooking, but his favorite part is washing the sink. He will wash the sink for hours! It has never been this clean...and neither has the floor or the nearby counter space. Lily is actually in the picture too...as she is in the sling. I was not informed that a picture of my backside was being taken.

Gabe is IN TROUBLE

Ok.... so here's the deal. I LOVE to sleep. I have always loved to sleep. As a little kid my aunt and uncle tell me that suddenly in the midst of parties they would turn around and I would be sleeping somewhere. Gabe is not this way! When we first started dating I was astounded that he wanted to stay up until 11!!! (or later)
Recent events in our lives have made my love of sleep an unobtainable dream, but I still try. this means that I go to bed sometime between 8 and 9. I understand that Gabe does not...but I never realized what he was doing with his extra time.
The other night I woke up at 11 to nurse the baby. I was shocked to see that Gabe was not in bed and decided to go downstairs to send him to bed. Imagine my suprise to find that he was also not downstairs. I call to him...nothing. I frantically check the garage - NO CAR!!! At this point I call his cell phone (ok I was sobbing imagining which one of the many crazy people on the street had managed to abduct him - and steal the car- while I was sleeping) but No...he wasn't abducted! He was at McDonald's- getting a shake.
As Emory would say "B- A- D- BAD!"
Since then there is now an agreement that people that leave the house to buy ice cream treats at late hours will leave notes.

Snowman

We have had a couple of blizzards recently which means building a snowman is a necessity!

This involves great concentration...

Some imaginative use of household foods like almonds...
...and you end up with a finished product that is a "funny little critter"
