Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone! We carved a pumpkin and gave out candy and Emory got back in his Chewbacca costume to help us out. Most people do not realize that Chewbacca became the most powerful wookie by training with slippers with soccer balls on them while catching a basketball in a baseball glove.

Elmo

There is something absolutely amazing about Elmo. Emory has never seen sesame street, knows nothing about the Muppet's, but inherently knows about Elmo. Maybe it is something that they are born with; who knows. Nana got Emory an Elmo backpack that is very cute. At first he wanted nothing to do with it, but once he got it on he did not want to take it off...we had to fight with him to get it off to put him in the carseat, and even then he had to hold it on his lap and put it back on as soon as he got out of the car.

Boo At The Zoo!

Last weekend we went to the 'Boo at the zoo'. 39,000 people visited the zoo last weekend, and we were a few of them. Lots of kids dressed up. We went with Uncle Shanti and cousins Shilah and Serena and we had a very good time running around and playing. Emory is dressed as chewbaca and Shilah is a Fairy Princess. Serena is a chicken out of costume.

HAPPY (early) BIRTHDAY EMORY!

Emory shared a birthday party with our friend's daughter yesterday. Alex turns 3 on October 27th, just a day after Emory turns 2, so we had their parties at Sunflower Farms. This is a kid friendly farm where there are lots of animals and toys and tractors and a tree fort; everything a kid could want...unless your Emory. Within 5 mintues of getting to the farm he found a ball and spent most of the time protecting it from other kids. It was a georgous day and there is a great view and everyone seemed to have fun. Emory did stop playing long enough to eat a cupcake and open a present...yes, 1 present...the first one he opened was...balls and he was unable to concnetrate on anything else after that. Again, it was a lot of fun and a great 2nd party for Emory!

Llama Trauma!

With some of my birthday money (Thanks Evie and Orion!) I got two new books for Emory that I have been coveting. "Llama Llama Mad at Mama!" and "Llama Llama Red Pajamma!" We went home read them them but the second one became very traumatic for Emory. Yesterday when we were reading it he identified so much with the plot he started crying and wailing, and he needed to be comforted and told over and over that Baby llama was "OK". We talked about it a lot last night and went over and over the story. Today he was frantic to read it again, so I asked Gabe to get the camara and video the event. He doesn't seem quite as upset, but we might put this one on the shelf for a while! I will never again doubt the power of books.

Now "Llama llama Mad at Mama" he loves! he says, "Llama is MAD. MAD AT MAMA. LLAMA doesn't want to shop at shop o RAMA." It is a great book.

Happy Fall!

Happy Fall everyone! While the leaves have changed in the Mountains, they are starting to turn down here and it is very pretty...

a little chillier than I like but very pretty. Also, some candid shots of Emory from this morning.

more pumpkin farm

Some fun events at the pumpkin farm...Emory had a very good time playing Peek-a-boo and climbing on the bails of hay. He also got a pumpkin hat which he enjoyed...for a minute anyway.

Pumpkin Farm

We picked visited a pumpkin farm this morning and it very cool. It was a LARGE farm with huge pumpkin fields, animals, corn and hay-bale mazes; and best of all it was close. After picking our pumpkin we went and visited the animals. Emory's favorite was the donkey. Even though it was clearly posted, he still pet the donkeys nose. After we passed to donkey, it started to bray very loudly and Emory though it was the funniest thing and kept saying 'He-haw', 'He-haw' and "donkey makes loud noises"...very cute.

Pumpkin Patch

This morning we took Emory to a Pumpkin Patch about 6 miles from our house. He is getting excited about Halloween so we took him to pick out a pumpkin. Little did I know that the 'pumpkin patch' would be better called "Vast expanse of pumpkin wasteland!" This place was huge! We went to one of the 4 fields of pumpkins to pick one out and Emory did a very good job and picked a nice pumpkin that we will cave soon.

new art form

My friend Elizabeth has inspired me to try an art form called "sorted books" Basically you let the titles of the books tell a story. Check out some samples on Ebee's and Katy's blog.

Here is my own humble entry

First an autobiography of my daily life

And now

A snippet of the inner workings of biology...ie the new baby.
