Scott's

Anica's wedding was at a resort called Scott's. When we first got there it seemed totally surreal and dated to me, but by the end it seemed charmingly aged and comforting. One fact is completely indisputable...it rained a LOT. This made for lots of puddles. Here are some of the highlights...not including the wedding.

Gabe caught this reflection of Emory in the puddle.

He also caught the dessert table.

Everybody held baby Lily. Here is Lily and Georgette.

Emory discovered a drum set and had to be forceably removed after a couple sets.

Emory made sure Anica got to the wedding.

The rain allowed Gabe to get this amazing shot.

Did I mention there were puddles?

Emory was not the only boy who wanted to play in the rain.

Happy (Belated) Birthday Ebee!

Happy delicious and wonderful 35th to my great friend Ebee! Thank you for making the world filled with color and beauty! Hopefully soon I will join you on a kayaking adventure.

Discipline

Emory and I sat at dinner at the Olive Garden. I tickled his neck with my finger.

"Mama Stop that."

I continue.

"Mama I said to stop that."

I continue.

"Mama if you do not stop, you will get a time out."

Who's the toddler?

Nature Walk

We took the kids on a nature walk in Morrison/Golden this morning and it was a beautiful morning. It is a well worn path along the foothills and a was a very nice walk. Emory did great and had a lot of fun. There was even a moon out for our walk.

Boy time with the kids

Friday night Andrea and Aimee went out with some friends for a 'girls night out' and Shanti and I got to watch the kids for a few hours. It was very fun and the kids seemed to have a great time playing. Emory did a decent job sharing his toys, with a few moments of 'that's mine' and grabbing and running, but overall it was very fun. As you can see from the pictures, Emory is missing from most of them as this was eairly on and he was playing alone.

Good parenting/ Bad parenting

So...We're at Kohl's shopping and Emory is zooming ahead 20ft. As he dashes by the manager he brushes her skirt a little and he says, "Oh excuse me!" She stops and compliments us on teaching manners. Gabe and I walk with our head held proudly up feeling very good. This lasts about 20ft until we get to the door of the store and Emory says, "F**k,f**k,f**k, f**k,f**k." (very enthusiastically) We put our heads down, covered our eyes, and tried to get to the car quickly. It was a brief moment in the sun.

Tell me this, why does it take months and months of repetition to get moments of politeness and yet one moment of exclamation after being hit in the head with the shovel is repeated instantly and for months on end. WHY?

Anica's Wedding approaches

We are getting ready for the big event! Lily already had an outfit, I found one that fit again (Thank god for not being pregnant!), but Gabe and Emory needed to get new clothes. Gabe looks incredible in his. I am contemplating bringing a big stick to beat off all the single girls who will undoubtedly start to attack him. (Would that be against the new airline travel rules?) Emory is less excited about his. After donning the outfit he said,

" NO NO NO"

"I don't like it"

"I don't want to go to Massachusettes and wear this"

"I do NOT want to fly on the airplane."

So he will either be wearing it or his fire truck PJ's.
